Born on May 3, 1983, in the heart of Harare, Zimbabwe, Josephine Svitsayi Mahachi is a name synonymous with bold storytelling, transformative media, and tireless advocacy for Africa’s narrative. The daughter of Mr. John Dzingai and Tsitsi Mercy Mahachi, Josephine grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Hatfield, where her journey toward becoming one of Africa’s most dynamic media personalities quietly began.
From the classrooms of Harare to the global stage, Josephine has carved a space for herself as a seasoned media practitioner, investment consultant, and trailblazing television host. Her passion for the continent’s culture, heritage, and human capital sparked the creation of Click Africa in 2009—a pioneering television program designed to celebrate African excellence and broadcast it across the continent.
Through Click Africa, Josephine has sat across from some of the most influential figures in modern African history. Her interviews have included political giants like the late President Robert Mugabe, Nigeria’s HE Olusegun Obasanjo and HE Muhammadu Buhari, Ghana’s HE Jerry Rawlings, and Malawi’s HE Lazarus Chakwera. She has also spotlighted powerful business moguls and everyday heroes, amplifying the voices of those who are shaping Africa’s destiny from boardrooms, communities, and beyond.
But Josephine’s impact goes far beyond the screen. With a keen eye for investment and a deep commitment to national development, she was instrumental in facilitating visits to Zimbabwe by some of Africa’s most respected entrepreneurs, including Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu. Her efforts to bridge media and economic empowerment earned her a seat as a Non-Executive Board Member of the Zimbabwe Investment Authority from 2015 to 2018. That same year, she also tested the political waters, participating in Zimbabwe’s parliamentary primaries.
A 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow under the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), Josephine continues to expand her influence in media entrepreneurship, digital journalism, and social justice. In 2018, she joined the prestigious Deutsche Welle in Germany as a freelance multimedia journalist in the English for Africa Department, where she explores critical themes such as human rights, governance, and development across the continent.
Never one to be confined by traditional media boundaries, Josephine also runs her own digital platforms—JoseyM Agency and Live Chat with Josey on YouTube—where she tackles the most pressing stories of the day with honesty, insight, and an unwavering belief in Africa’s potential.
With over a decade of experience in communication strategy and content development, Josephine Svitsayi Mahachi is more than a media powerhouse—she is a cultural ambassador, a fierce advocate for equity, and a storyteller with a mission: to amplify African voices, empower the marginalized, and reshape the narrative of a continent on the rise.
In a world in desperate need of authentic African perspectives, Josephine is not just telling stories. She is making history.
